Art-In-Progress
Discoveries about the brain from a neuroscientist, a quote about beating resistance, my latest find in creator platforms, one motivational audio, and an insightful tweet on productivity
Hello Folks!
Before digging into today’s edition, I have a favor to ask you. This coming Monday, I'll be launching the first issue of the UpGroves newsletter. It will include hand-curated picks to make more money, grow your audience, and learn how other makers are succeeding in business. I'd really appreciate if you could subscribe.
Thanks a ton!
TikTok Finding
Check out this TikTok carousel where neuroscientist Charlotte unveils five discoveries about our brains during the healing process.
She starts with an interesting point that confirms a long suspicion of mine:
The brain isn't designed to be happy, but it can become happy.
Biologically, it's designed for survival, to scan for danger, to 'blend in' with a pack.
Happiness truly is a mindset that is adopted, built & nurtured - it's not a natural given.
We're wired for survival, not for happiness. No wonder why it's easier to remember negative things than positive experiences.
Quote to Reflect On
On habits:
Resistance hates two qualities above all others: concentration and depth. Why? Because when we work with focus and we work deep, we succeed.
How did Tom Brady master the art of the forward pass? How did Picasso paint? How did Yo-Yo Ma learn the cello?
Resistance wants to keep us shallow and unfocused. So it makes the superficial and the vain intoxicating.
Have you checked your e-mail in the last half hour? When you sit down to do your work, do you leave your web connection on?
It can be fatal, keeping up with the Kardashians

Platform I'm Loving
WIP is a platform for makers to track progress, support each other, and stay accountable. It was built by the serial maker Marc Köhlbrugge.
Here's what my feed looks like:
Posting on WIP it's helping me stay productive without spamming my Twitter with daily updates.
What I've Been Listening To
The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale
Earl Nightingale was an American motivational speaker. He is one of the founding fathers of self-development and has inspired figures such as Tony Robbins and Brian Tracy.
In this recording, he tells you how we can reach our goals and experience a more meaningful existence.
My favorite idea:
The human mind is the last great unexplored continent on the earth. It contains riches beyond our wildest dreams. It will return anything we want to plant.
Motivating and inspiring. His message is over 40 years old and, of course, it is still relevant as then.
Insightful Tweet to Check Out
Came across this tweet from Sam Tackeff that I found super insightful:
I do have a "not doing" list, which includes things like:
Mindless scrolling
Consuming without producing
Wasting time trying to solve small problems that might end up solving by themselves
Do you have a "not doing" list?
I would love to hear your feedback!
Which thing did make your brain tickle? Is there something you would take off the list?

Love the happiness quote Paulina. Eckhart Tolle talks about how you won't be happy in the future if you're not happy now because today is the future of yesterday. Lately I've been approaching it as happiness comes in moments. The trick is to be present when it happens, remove what takes it away, and create more moments of happiness.
I need a 'not doing' list. I stay on my phone too late at night and go down fruitless rabbit holes.
Great edition!
